NAV 5.0 Push Out To Users

By sabrinab ·
Some of my machines on the network cannot get pushed to. The system keeps saying cannot resolve computer name or it cannot connect to target machine to push out the NAV product ot defs. I'm having to go locally off each machine and get the defs and in one case can't even get the program pushed only the agent. The machines are mostly 98's, but one is an NT. Ever run into it? I had one LAN that was pushing out to five machines and it couldn't ever resolve the computer name thing.

See if you can ping the machines by computername. See if you can see them in Network Neighborhood. Try double checking their connectivity from their end too. I have one machine that is the same way that I have just given up on.

We have completely gone NT, but there are still some trust relationships that never worked and we totally redid those machines.

Thanks anyway.

On the computer that is having the problem, create an LMHOSTS file in %SYSTEM% for Win98 and &SYSTEMROOT%/system32/drivers/etc for NT. This file should read
IPADDRESS computername #PRE
use the IPADDRESS and computername of the computer with NAV. Next open a command window and type 'nbtstat -R' without the quotes. This should solve the problem with name resolution. Please feel free to email me for more information.
