In the past folks wrote they had a pst that was corrupt. When they try open it they get the error “file is not a valid pst’. They had tried the Inbox Repair tool but no luck. They wondered, is there any other way to repair this file??
I have the same problem. It’s not over-size (it was 1.5 Gig.) Runing scanpst adds a few k, but when I run Outlook 2000 on the “repaired” file I see no data, and no lost+found, just some empty default folders.
This is on Windows 98 SE. I imported all my mail, since the beginning of time, from Netscape Communicator by way of Outlook Express, and then have been using Outlook for about a month (because Norton AntiSpam likes it better), for a total .pst file size of about 1.5 Gig.
A Norton AntiVirus process discovered a virus in the .pst (not sure how, since I run email protection, and the computer was unattended, or at least not collecting mail, when it quarantined the file) and restoring it from quarantine, or copying it over, with or without running scanpst, I’ve got nothing.
I can easily recover all mail since before last month, and don’t care if I have to lose my address books and NAS rules, but I’d like to be able to recover my incoming and sent mail from the last month. Any hope?
