navapsvc.exe application error?

When shutting Windows xp pro I get an error that the memory "0x0040z31e referred to......with navapsvc.exe running.

That file is associated with Norton Antivirus. Have you tried reinstalling it? It coould be just a corrupt file.

You may want to uninstall Norton first. In addition to uninstalling (if it let's you), make sure the Program Files Symantec directory is deleted before reinstalling. Sometimes it's difficult to uninstall Norton if it's corrupt.

There is a manual uninstallation document on the Symantec site (registry entries to delete, etc).
