I have SBS2003 installed at a client who is a franshisee in a group. I set the exchange server up with the domain “franchise.co.za”. The server does not use DNS, but sends to a smarthost, since it is on adsl with a dynamic IP address. The group registered the domain name, say, franchise.co.za. All their franchisees then get email addresses “user@franchise.co.za”. Now, when any one within this branch in the group, where I installed SBS with MS Exchange, tries to send to another branch, say anotherbranch@franchise.co.za, the exchange server obviously checks the server and says, ok, I am franchise.co.za, and “anotherbranch” does not exist in my database, so I cannot deliver it. How do I reconfigure this server to send mail to “franchise.co.za” for users that does not exist on this server, to send it out to the smarthost?
I need an urgent resolution here, because at this point the customer is not very happy with me, since he cannot communicate with even his head office, because “headoffice@franchise.co.za” does not exist on his exchange server, although it exists in the group and at the isp.
