I just bought a used Mac., and it has a (NEC CD ROM Drive: 462 1.13) in it, but I can't figure out how to unlock it so I can use the drive to install..
Can you help me, or know where I might can find this information?
normally, there is a small hole in the front where a straightened paper clip will fit in. with the power off, insert the wire straight in until resistance is felt, then push approx. 1/4 in. more and door should release from latch. it could be thata cd is in there but not seated, causung it to lock up the door.
IS THE DRIVE POWERED? When booting the machine, you should see some light activity in the cd unit. If yes, then proceed as described in answer1 if not, remove cpu cover and unplug and plug again the power connector and the ide connector.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
