I am set to upgrade our Winnt 4.0 server to Win 2k. The compant that installed the server set it up with a 2gb C drive. I tryed to run the Win 2k set up with the check up grade switch to run a upgrade report. I recievd the error that I did not have enough disk space. I cleaned out all I could and I am still short. What would be my best best to increase the C partition. Would Partition Magic be ok? Please do not tell me to do a clean install as that would not be an option. any sugestions on this would be appreciated

As far as I am aware, Partition Magic will not work on servers (at least, not on my Win2k servers). You would need Volume Manager, also from PowerQuest but more expensive (obviously !).
It may very well be that NT was installed on a FAT partition, in which case it cannot be bigger than 2Gb. An option is to compress your program files, Remove Servicpack Uninstall directories, Remove Servicepackfiles, Clear IE cache, temp. Bring down you swap file to 50Mb.
Volume manager is your answer. Depending on the actual total size of the drive I would do the following. Purchase volume manager and a new hard disk. I had the same issue on a NT 4.0 server that only had a 4 gig drive. VM will allow you to basically do the same thing that drive copy will do for a desktop. It will copy the contents of your orignal c drive to a new and bigger drive. You can then reset the boot ini to boot off of the new larger drive. Once you verify that everything is working correctly off of the new drive you can reformat and reinstall the drive back into the server as a new drive. The step by step directions are in the VM instruction guide. Works like a charm. Now if your drive is already large enough to accomidate your needs, then I would ask how big is your page file sys. This file can eat up lots of space and I would move it to another drive to get you enough space to do the upgrade.
ghost works ghost the partition off change the partition size ghost the partition back done it myself with a 2k machine. Presume its the same principle with nt4
