Need help configuring a different barcode scanner with my POS

Hi,

I have a POS system that uses WelchAllyn barcode scanner. The POS system is out of production and no support is available so I’m on my own to keep it running. The welchAllyn scanner died and I have an extra symbol ls4000 scanner I’m trying to get to use with the POS. It plugs in between the keyboard and the computer (ps2 connectors). All it has to do is read a 5 digit invoice barcode (no leading zeros) and a 4 digit location barcode. The Symbol ls4000 scanner reads the existing barcodes but prepends a character to the output. Example invpoice is 56123 and it prepends a “C” so it comes out C56123. Similar with location barcodes. Location 0026 comes out A0026. I have the programmers guide for the symbol but it’s very confusing. HELP!!!!!

it isn’t going to work.

So best thing to do is see if the POS system actually supports the Symbol scanner. It would be in the POS configuration settings. If it doesn’t then nothing you do will make it work.
