Need help immediately: user lock-out

By NavyIT ·
I have a client whos computer is used by approximately 8 users. The computer will automatically lock-out users using the last user that was logged on. The problem occurs after someone has logged off and leaves. This problem just started occuring and nothing was done to the computer before hand. I checked the services and I couldn't find a solution there and i'm out of ideas on the solution. If somebody could provide any insight as to what the problem might be, then that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If the problem can be easily replicated, try turning on auditing and performing the same steps the users take when getting locked out. That should at least help narrow where in the system the lock-out is occurring.

Create a memo that will explain to everyone sharing the one computer to fully log out of the machine so others can use it.

Change the local policy to not lock out users. Sounds like the last user is possibly locking the computer instead of logging off. Then the next user comes and tries to unlock it, entering bad passwords for the previous user, until the user accountis locked out. Then they probably just reboot, and are prompted with a fresh login screen where the proceed to login. Check the eventlog for failed login attempts. There IS a reason the user account is getting locked out. Eventviewer is great atshedding light on these problems.
