Hi Chas. I want to thank you very, very much for responding and I want to apologize for my delayed response. I’ve been busy and I put this aside for awhile, it got very frustrating. But I’m up for the task again. Here are the Windows Vista driver that appear in Device Manager that I don’t have for XP—

*IEEE 1394 BUS HOST CONTROLER
RICOH OHCI Comoliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller
*DISPLAY ADAPTER

*IDE ATA/ATAPI CONTROLLER
RICOH Memory Stick Controller
RICOH SD/MMC Host Controller
RICOH xD-Picture Card Controller
*IMAGE DEVICE
HP Webcam
*MODEMS
HDAudio Soft Data Fax Modem With Smart CP
*NETWORK ADAPTERS
Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN
NVidia nForce Network Controller
*SD HOST ADAPTER
SD Standard Compliant SD Host Controller
*SOUND, VIDEO AND GAME CONTROLLERS
Conexant High DefinitionSmart Audio HD2
*STORAGE CONTROLLERS
Microsoft iSCSI Initiator
*SYSTEM DEVICES
AMD Address Map Configuration
AMD DRAM and Hyper Transpor(TM)Trace Mode Configuration
AMD Hyper Transport Configuration
AMD Miscellaneous Launch Configuration
Direct Application Launch Button
Direct Memory Access Controller
High Definition Audio Controller
Numeric Data Processor
NVidia nForce PCI System Management
NVidia nForce System Management Controller
PCI Standard ISA Bridge
UMBUS Enumerator
UNBUS Root Bur Enumerator—–
I tried looking for these on different sites, and I found a few but most don’t work.
If you could help me get more details on these drivers or suggest a site where I could get the driver I would greatly appriciate the help and if there is any other information that you may requier to help in the process I will be glad to provide.
It seems like I’m not the only one that is attempting this and it also seems like everyone os having a problem attaining drivers. I an attemting this in order not to void my warrent on this laptop but it seems that even if I opted to do so it would still be a problem getting the laptop to operate correctly without the drive. I guess I’m being forced to use Windos Vista wheather I like it or not. THANKS AGIAN
