I’ve downloaed a *.pdf document tittle “10 registry hacks for hardening Windows XP security”, in which is has a sction to “Disable hidden administrative shares”; By, accessing the key lested bellow:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\
Services\lanmanager\parameters
and creating a DWORD -> AutoShareWks
with Value -> 0
However, I don’t seem to have that exact KEY, rather I have:
a) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\
Services\lanmanserver\parameters
b) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\
Services\lanmanworkstation\parameters
I am very serious about locking down my system to intruders. I would appreciate the help as to where to make the changes to “DISABLE Administrative Shares”.
