Need Help with Connecting PC

Hi All,
Thank you for helping me out here.I dont really have massive experience on networking.My boss told me to huke up a new PC FOR IT dept only.We have Windows 2000 server.We use static ip address.There are 5o users here all of them have XP Prof. I need to huke up my one pc for IT DEPT only so that all our IT related documents can there and people who work in the IT dept can map this pc from their workstation.I wanted to know setpwise procedure to make it working efficiently.Please advice.

It would be best to let the IT dept setup their own PC. From the info given, I cannot tell you how to make it work.
If you insist on doing this yourself, it would be best to do a google search for 'networking on a lan or domain'. Plenty of help sites out there that already have procedures explained.

Unless you have rights on the Windows 2000 network, I doubt that you can set up a system so that only the IT department can use it.

I agree with Dusty and let the IT deparment handle this one. That IS why computer systems professionals exist.

The simple answer :

Connect ('huke'?) the PC to the network using a cable.
Start the computer.
Join the domain.
Share a folder.
Set permissions on the folder as desired.

Seems strange if you have a whole IT dept and you need to go to a forum to ask this question...

Any further info on scenario would enable us to give you better advice.
