    Need help with DHCP

    Locked

    by kwilkey ·

The following TechNet article Q173040 describes my exact problem. The server is running NT 4.0 SP 6a I followed the instructions and went to create the folder winnt\system32\dhcp and it was already there. I’m new to the company but I suspect the server was running dhcp in the past. I tried deleting the dhcp folder and reinstalling dhcp but still get the same error message when I reboot. No files were ever written to the Winnt\system32\dhcp folder.

    Any Ideas?

      I suggest that you:

      1) make sure that the folder exists
      2) run regedit and remove the dhcp info files that exists in the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE System CurrentControlSet Services VxD DHCP
      3) reinstall the DHCP Server Service4) re-apply the Service Pack
