Basicly here is the situation. When I double click to open any folder or my hard drive, it open up a search window.
What I believe I did to cause this: I was trying to change the icons for file types “Drive” and “File Folder” I clicked the “Advanced” button and then clicked the “Change Icon” button and then found the icon I liked. I have noticed that both of those file types have only “find” in the “Actions” window.
What I have tried:
I retraced my steps and changed the icons back to what they were in C:WINDOWS\system32\system32.dll
all that did was change the icon…i must have severed the program connection to open those file types. I have tryed click on the “Reset All Folders” button under the “View” tab, as well as the “Restore Defaults” button under the “View” tab. I also clicked “Restore Defaults” under the “General” tab.
the last thing I have tried is going under the “File Types” tab…selecting the file type and clicking the “Advanced” button….I then clicked the “New” button and typed in “open”. I was not sure which program to use for this, so I believe I chose either fastopen or openfile or something like that. Anyway…that is where I sit.
I read one tech column that said to remove any action that did not say “open” or “explore”…..however…it does not give me the option to remove anything as both the “edit” and “remove” option are grayed out.
