Laptop is Dell Inspiron 4000 that originally came with windows 2000
I took out the old hd which was a 20gb travelstar and put a 160gb toshiba. took out the old pins and put it on the new hd and put the hd back in.
at the dell splash screen, i pressed ctrl-alt-d and it tested my hd and says that it passed. durign the system cd installs it detected the 160gb space
bios is a23
i tried to install a system cd off a newer model inspiron with windows xp and
towards 100% it gives me this message “Setup was unable to format the partition. The disk may be damaged.”
is it because im using the wrong system cd? mind you this a brand new hard drive.
