Need help with USB

How can I determine if my computer reconogizes my usb card, I have tried clicking on my computer and checked hardward, did not show up. Please help. Thanks, Jean

Is there a simple test or procedure?

Go to control panal click on system click on Hardware click on Device Manager click on Universal Serial Bus COntrollers,see if your U S B card is listed.

Which version of Windows?

Windows NT, and 95 do NOT have native USB device support.

Have you installed the driver for the card?

One of the true benefits of USB is the 'plug and play' nature of adding devices through it. A simple test would be to attach a USB device to one of the ports and see if the OS recognizes it and starts installing new hardware. Use something other than a mouse or keyboard though, as the OS expects these devices to be present at system start. If this is a PCI card, remember that often some slots on the motherboard are hard-wired to share an IRQ, so look in the manual for the chart or move the USB card to a different slot if it's having trouble being recognized . . .
