I must support telecommuting users who are not technically savvy and am looking for an elegant solution to the problem of misused equipment. As it is using the cable company?s modem and consumer grade routers works only till the maid unplugs something or the user?s teenage son decides to tinker. Sure I could secure equipment in a box and lock it but that fails on a number of fronts: I will likely conflict with the space under the desk at the user?s swanky home or it will offend his/her sensibilities for being treated like a child. What I need is equipment that has no user accessible controls. I would like to configure the equipment in the shop and send it to his home knowing that they could do nothing more than unplugging power or the coax, both of which I expect they can troubleshoot. In the best of all possible worlds I could manage the devices remotely. I?ve done a lot of searching on this but I?m afraid that ?Luke you are our only hope?.
