Need Network Traffic Monitor

By mitchbryant ·
I am looking for a inexpensive network traffic monitoring tool. I can not sell the idea of Sniffer for 5K but do want to be able to occasionally look at a graphical screen and see we have a high amount or abnormal amount of network traffic going on via the wires...

I have a netware server and ton on 98 PC's one win2K PC ~ got any suggestions ???

Have you considered MRTG (Multi-Router Traffic Grapher)? It's free! Take a look at
http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/mrtg/
for more in depth info. Best wishes.

If you want a sniffer, a free one is Ethereal. www.ethereal.com

It quite competitive with sniffer (without the graphs and stuff)

If you want an inexpensive sniffer, IRIS by eeye.com is one of the best. Its only 995.

Try EtherPeek from WildPackets. If you need a
real-time expert with real-time decodes then
go with EtherPeek NX. ($2,995.00) Or if you
don't need the expert then there is
EtherPeek.($1,295.00) EtherPeek NX is a
better tool than the SnifferPro LAN. So if you
can get it great. You can down load a demo at
www.wildpackets.com
