Need to add the mbr to windows 7...?

By jcwfbi ·
I have a multi-boot, xp and windows 7. XP was installed on one drive and windows 7 the other. I am not wanting to use the XP build anymore. Problem is the mbr is on xp, if I unplug xp then I can't boot either. I tried the install cd, chose repair system, selected the cmd prompt and did the bootsect /nt60 C: /mbr. That did not work. Any way to make this work without a reinstall? Thanks.

7 Doesn't have the ability to perform a In Place Install. If you don't want to reinstall the OS you are going to have to leave the XP Drive in the system unformatted though you can delete the XP Windows Folder.

first i would try this

Back up your win7 drive by imaging it
disconnect the XP drive
then try a win7 repair by booting off the cd and choose repair
if that doesnt work, thien try installing windows 7 and restoring the files from your image.
