Need to reinstall Drive Converter in Win98 desktop

By fcruzdj ·
Greetings,

I'm trying to convert FAT16 to FAT32 on a Win98 machine, but Drive Converter is not installed. I tried to install this using my Win98 CD, but it does not show up in the Windows Components section of Add/Remove Programs (per the CD).

Can someone give me steps to install Drive Converter from the Win98 CD without me having to reinstall Win98 entirely?

Thanks!

Extract File

by TheChas In reply to Need to reinstall Drive C ...

It has been to long since I have done this, so the steps may be a bit off.

First, search the Windows folders for the Drive Converter executable.

Cvt1.exe

If it is there, just run it.

If it is not there, place the CD in the drive and use System File Checker to extract / replace a single file.

Cvt1.exe

I don't recall drive converter being a separate component though. Check the Accessories menus for the utility.

Use Microsoft's FAT16 to FAT32 converter

1. Click Start|Programs|Accessories|System Tools
2. In the Drives box, click the drive you want to convert to FAT32
3. Click Next, and then click OK.
4. Click Next, click Next, and then click Next again.
5. When the conversion is complete, click Finish.

Or:
http://www.symantec.com/norton/partitionmagic
Of which will do the job in hand.

Please post back if you have any more problems or questions.
