Hi. I have been assigned the duty of testing the school district’s network. We have two LANs connected with a fiber link and a T1 for Internet. I need a complete solution. Either software or hardware that can test and identify speed, duplex, bottlenecks, cable lengths, performance, etc. The reason for this is because I wish to upgrade our current network (10baseT) using hubs to a switched network (100baseT). The business manager wants quantifiable proof that bottlenecks are present in thesystem and where they are. He wants numbers and reports instead of just my opinions. He also wants to see numbers that state that a 100 mps switch is faster than a 10 mps hub (I know, it should be a no brainer). Anyway, he wants to see a field test comparison between a hub and a switch to see which is actually faster. I have looked at many hardware and software solutions so far, I would like advice on what to buy. Any suggestions. We have many problems concerning bandwidth (lack of) and speed on our network. The only way I will get the money to fix it is with facts. Thanks
