.net and Unix deployment
I attended a Microsoft .net technical briefing 2/25/03 and it was communicated that .net would produce web applications that could run on a Linux/Unix Server. I have just finished reading an article comparying J2EE and .net and one of the advantages they give J2EE is the ability to port web applications to UNIX and conversely, state categorically that .net produced web applications will only run on Windows 200X Servers (front page can do this!). In the name of simplicity I ask the following: Is is possible to develop web applications under .net that can be ported/run on a Unix Server (for I don't wish to host a web application on anything as fragile as a 2000 Server)? I thank you for your answer in advance.
Respectfully,
Gordon Haas
