.Net framework install failed

By dspangler@intellitecsolut ·
Installing .Net framework from windowsupdate onto a Windows 2000 Server fails. The info provided after the failure lists the .Net framework system requirements.

The "latest service pack" is required. The server is only at SP2 for Windows 2000,so this is probably why the .Net framework will not install.

Why, however, does the install of the .Net framework on Windows 2000 Professional machines with SP2 only work?

Not sure exactly why it won't install. Further info desired.

Try uninstalling SP2 and reinstalling it (or installing SP3) I had this exact problem on my Windows 2000 Advanced Server and that fixed it.

Whenever a Windows Update fails, the first thing to try is to do the update again, if that fails, uninstall and reinstall latest service pack.
