net send timeout

By Ahernaus ·
Is there somewere a timeout parameter in NT4 for the net send command. If I send a message to a machine that is powered off I have to wait 55 seconds. I would like to reduce this value.
Someone able to help me???

net send does not have a time parameter....

but if you want a work around....

may I suggest you "ping name" to see if there's any response (machine is awake, whether or not the user is there) before you "net send name..."

This is what I expected. Your suggestion works fine for 1 or maybe a few receipients, but we were planning to use it for sending to predined groups using a gui. If every disconnected address takes a wait time this won't be an option.
Thanks anyway.
