By jhuddle ·
When I connect to a Win2K pro machine from a win NT machine using net use from the command line I get two sessions on the win 2K box. Can anyone explain why or how to recitify this.

This happens in Windows NT Server 4 as well. Ex. If I map(net use) a drive to a network share(c$) that will be one session, and the second session will be the IPC$ session. Here is a link that explains IPC(Inter-Process Connections). Go down the page until you see, "Communicating Between Processes." Hope this helps.
