Net Work Documentation

By 13thdesciple ·
I'm looking for software that can help me keep track of the our Network. We are growing on a daily basis and need to keep track or our equiptment and software for obvious purposes. Any software that will allow me to document the number of the Servers, Routers, Switches, workstations, IP's assigned, NerBIOS/Host names, etc., would be a savior. It would also be great if It will allow us to run query's for reporting purposes. I have not really done much reasearch, but thought I would try here for a start point. Please Help.

Well, the OS of the servers/workstations does make a difference. But, if you run Win 9x/NT/2K/XP, then I would get Dameware NT Utilities to manage all things Windows.

Since you are using Microsoft products you could use SMS and visio to document the network. Below is the link to SMS on Microsoft's web site.

If you find a program that allows you to document the Servers, Routers, Switches, workstations, IP's assigned, NetBIOS/Host names, etc., I would appreciate if you let me know.

I am looking for software for both Windows and NetWare.
Thanks.

Hi
You can try Network view software. http://www.networkview.com
It will scan your network and discover all the networked devices which are on. Then you can make a list of that. This software will give you the type of the device,HOstname,Ipaddressall those things.
Please get back to me if u need any clarification
Thanks
