Dear hari19580@indiatimes.com:
Could you provide a little more information?
Have some of the machines in your organization recently been upgraded to Windows 98? Which networking protocol(s) are you using? You may want to consult article Q220586 onthe Microsoft Knowledge Base. <http://support.microsoft.com/search/preview.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q220586>

Hari,
if you are using winnt/98 machines and tcpip then check if the m/c which you cannot ping have been given an ip address.

yes it can be done with sub netting, read white papers on sub netting so that you can be familiar with subnetting.

from server if you set up 255.255.255.254 then u can see the all the systems by sitting at server, and u can't see the systems on server by browsing through the network. it is not so easy to under stand sub netting it is complex in technology. be read as much u have then u can have the details.
