Netbios domain name

I am converting from Windows NT to a new server with sbs 2003. I am having a hard time getting the other computers (XP pro) to find it on the domain, I think I named the netbios domain as the same domain as the old server, would this cause a problem or is it only the actual domain in sbs, for instance the netbios domain name is domianname and the sbs domain is domainname.local, but the old server had the same as the the sbs netbios domainname, if this is a problem can i just change the domain name in the nt server.

One of the first things Microsoft states in its document for NT->SBS migration is that the netbios domain names of the source and destination servers must be different. Follow this link to the document I have read:
