Netdde on W2000

By ginone70 ·
Hi all,

we use an application named InTouch 7.1.
It was written for NT, but we install it on W2000. It seems to work for the main features, but same secondary features based on NETDDE protocol doesn't run. The SW support told us that it doesn't work becasue w2000 doesn't support NETDDE, and advise us to upgrade the release. It is true?
How can I enable the netdde protocol on w2000?

Thanks
Emanuele

Script

These scripts will start and stop the NetDDE service. Note there are security issues with NetDDE and patches which you SHOULD put on the system before using it:

Starting a Service and Its Dependents

Starts the NetDDE service and all its dependent services.

strComputer = "."
Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:" _
& "{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\" & strComputer & "\root\cimv2")
Set colServiceList = objWMIService.ExecQuery _
("Select * from Win32_Service where Name='NetDDE'")
For each objService in colServiceList
errReturn = objService.StartService()
Next
Wscript.Sleep 20000
Set colServiceList = objWMIService.ExecQuery("Associators of " _
& "{Win32_Service.Name='NetDDE'} Where " _
& "AssocClass=Win32_DependentService " & "Role=Dependent" )
For each objService in colServiceList
objService.StartService()
Next

Thank you for your speedy reply.
Only a question more: you talked about patches; which kind of patches you think should be necessary?

best Regards
Emanuele
