NETGEAR ROUTER BEHIND NETOPIA GATEWAY

by tturner1602 . Updated 18 years, 9 months ago

Ok, so I’m still in my learning stages here. I recently installed a Netgear wireless router on our network and that connects to a Netopia Gateway 3346-002. I’m trying to set up remote administration so I can log into the computers and server from my home (spend more time with the family!!!). Anywho, I’m having some problems. Here’s the setup:

-Netopia 3346n-002 gateway (set firewall to clear sailing)
-Netgear Wireless router (this is the only thing connected to the Netopia; disabled the firewall)
-Linksys network hub (Server and all computers connect here; the hub connects directly to the Netgear Router) All computers and the server have a static IP address I assigned based off the Netgear IP address.

The first thing I want to do is connect to the server which is running Win 2003 Small Business SP2)

I have allowed remote administration on both the Netopia and the Netgear. However, I know how to get to the Netopia, but how can I get to the Netgear? Then of course I have to get to the server? (Oh voy)

Now, I’m thinking I need to do some form of port forwarding but this is where my knowledge is still growing.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
