Netscape 4.7

By jill.budwell ·
A user keeps getting illegal operation messages when in Netscape 4.7. I tried re-installing but the message still comes up. Any suggestions?

It could be a video driver problem
Go to Display->Control Panel, and click on Settings->Change Display TYpes->Adapter Types->Change.Set the computer to StandardSuper VGA.Reboot
Another area is Launch Netscape, click on Edit, select Preferences, click on Navigator or Communicator, click clear History
Open Advanced, select Cache, click clear Cache Memory, click Click Disk Cache, click OK
It would a good idea to run Scandisk and Disk Defragmenter.

Did you try uninstalling, clearing the registry, rebooting and reinstalling? Netscape is another one of those programs that does not clear all of the registry when uninstalling it.

There's also other things that might be causing it. GoZillaand other download managers do not seem to work well with Netscape 4.7x series any more; they used to. So if you are using a download manager, be aware that this might cause a problem.
