Netscape woes/Alternative

By Talli ·
Hello, ladies and gentlemen! :)
I am in need of a knowledgeable advice.I have been a loyal Netscape user for quite some time, and over that time have ,slowly but surely, become more and more displeased with it.Right now I am using Netscape 4.76, hwich, as u may know, is rather unstable and crash/hang prone. So I've come to the point where I am looking for alternative. This is where the advice bit comes in.
My system specs are:Win95a, P-II, 350MHz, 64MB RAM, plenty of disk space, 56k modem. Whatbrowser should I go with? IE is out ofthe question-I hate it's guts. :)I've considered Mozilla (0.9.3 is the latest one), but it's bug list looks very scary. On the other hand-Mozilla users r quite extatic with it.What do u think? They say very nice things about Opera (the free version)-any comments on that one? I don't know anything about Opera.I also have Netscape 6.0 , and it's utter crap, but they say 6.1 is a major improvement .Should I give it a chance? (Also, if I do-does it come as a 6.0upgrade, or a separate download/install?).How about Netscape4.77/78? They say it's no different from 4.76...
I am grateful for any and all advice coming from your user experience and thank u all very much in advance.
Talli

Allright, let's start from the top.
-not familiar with mozilla, sorry.
-Opera is very nice, stable and very easy on the system-not crash-prone. free version available, but it comes with ads. paid version is ad-free. probably the best ie-alternative by most accounts. www.opera.com
-6.1 is a MAJOR improvement over 6.0, but you would be better off with a fresh install of 6.1. the download or price of the cd will be worth it.
-haven't used 4.76/77/78 in more than a year. didn't like it.
hope this helps

OK, here's my $.02:

Mozilla: never tried it
Opera: (free version) it was OK, but I thought it gave me problems supporting CSS-1
Netscape 6.1: definitely an improvement over that piece of cr** 6.0, and definitely worth a try
Netscape 4.7x: I personally never had problems with 4.76 on NT4 and W2K, but did try 4.77 and 4.78. I thought 4.77 was the best of the lot, with good support for CSS, good stability, etc. (but would recommend you have a look at 6.1)

IE5.0: junk
IE5.5: actually it'spretty good, but it is Billware(tm)
IE6.x: "run away!", with removal of support for 3rd party plug-ins (yeah, yeah, I know their press releases decribe it differently, but here's some news: Microsoft(R) lies!) and all the built-in spyware - yee gawds, WTF were they "thinking?" (notice the quotes)
