netware 5.0 vs. guardian firewall

Hi Mark,
I would have thought preventing outsiders from accessing your server was the primary purpose of the firewall. But if you need this:
The Novell documentation CD give information on all required ports that need to be opened at the firewall. To still have some security you need to change the communications parameters on the server and all clients, even those inside. Require packet signatures and packet encryption. Performance will suffer for everyone.
Check if NetGuardianPro offersany vpn features with client VPN software. This will cost performance on the firewall and the remote users, but inside users will not suffer.
Good Luck,
Rich

hi rich,
i thank you for your time and effort in trying to help me solve my problem.
we finally went to novell on this one, and their answer(that cost $150.00)was
"novell doesn't support NAT and has no plans to"...
we wound up having to removeNAT from the firewall and re-configure the network. one helluva learning experience
