    Netware 5.1 Server Default Gateway

    Locked

    by barnster ·

We have a Network running Netware 5.1 Our problem is that we have remote site that can not see the server in the Corp Location. The remote site can ping there router and our router but can not ping the Server. We do not have a Default Gateway setup on the server and I feel that this is the problem but don’t know how to setup a Default gateway on the Server and don’t know what services need to be loaded to run a Default Gateway.

In reply to Netware 5.1 Server Default Gateway

I prefer to use INETCFG.NLM to add the default gateway to netware servers. At the > prompt type “INETCFG”. If you have not run this before it will ask if you want to import your current lan drivers, answer yes. Then I pick the option to use inetcfg rather than the quick config. This will bring up a menu box with the third option being protocols, select protocols, then at the next menu pick TCPIP.
The third section of the next screen is static routing, you want to enable this.

Next selectthe Static routing table and after pressing enter you will see a table that is proably empty. Press insert and a box pops up. The First line will have network selected but if while that is highlighted, you press enter , a new box opens where you can select Default route.

Then all you need to do is specify the ip address of your router and then escape out. You will probably have to reinitialize your server but you will then have a default route specified. Note you can also use thsi to specify other routes tha
