NETWORK ADAPTER

By david_grant ·
I have a HP VA 2/100 workstation that was configure with Win NT formatted for NTSF and everything worked great. Operational needs required that I reformat the hard drive and install Windows 98 SE. All is well except that the Hp network adapter will not work. I've already made sure the correct drivers are installed. Any suggestions??

NETWORK ADAPTER

Well, I have ran into this problem before as well, with NIC's and other devices not working. The first thing I would ask would be Does everything look ok in Device Manager? Does it have any resource conflicts or is another device using the IRQ of that the network card wants. I would also remove any other cards from the system except video and network and then boot up the pc. I hope this will assist you.

I have had similiar problems with HP network cards - having the latest version of the driver doesn't guarantee it is a good driver. I am skeptical about the quality of the driver. I have bought cheap $10 nics to replace HP's and had no problems afterward.
