Network Adapter

By cbrinn ·
I'm having problems setting my Windows 2k computer to Hibernate or Standby. It says 'The device driver for the Intel PRO/100+ Management Adapter' device is preventing the maching from entering hibernation. Please close all applications and try again. I did try that, also updated the drivers to the latest available, closing all running programs with the task manager and anything seems to work. How can I resolve this issue. Thanks!!

Windows 2000 tends to have a lot of problems with Hibernation and Standby because (1) It is still a new operating system and all the bugs haven't been worked out, and (2) It has a tendency to miscommunicate with hardware that is added to the system. I am experiencing the same thing with my laptop, running Win2000. I'm not exactly sure what to tell you. I would recommend returning to Windows 98SE or Windows ME, because they are more reliable, and sound than Windows 2000.

Well, I'm coming from Windows 98 and ME and when I used to work with those Operating Systems my computer didn't show the Hibernate option which is shown with Windows 2k. When I disable my adapter it does hibernate without a problem. It has to be a way to make it work. Thank You!!

Have you installed any of the service packs for windows 2000? If not it probably is a good idea to do so. Also see if you can find update mainboard drivers. Usually called 4-1 or chipset.

I have the Service Pack 2 for Windows 2k. I did find updates for the 4 and 1 chipset, but it didn't work either. I really don't know what else to do. Thanks!!
