Network adapters Error 39

by jay.c.wannabe . Updated 18 years ago

I have an old emachines and i have just installed win XP SP2 on it and it runs fine. everything works ok, apart from network adapters. first of all, i had an ethernet LAN card, and i slotted it in ALL of the slots, installed the original driver that belkin gave, but it came up with error 39, saying that the driver was corrupt or missing.
so, i tried my luck again, this time, with a WiFi usb dongle, however, the IDENTICAL problem occurs. i’ve tried BOTH hardware on other computers, which takes them fine. i have spent countless hours on reg edit, and even, to the advice of someone, managed to delete the entire key for the network adapters.

i have roamed around all of google, trying to find answers, and have come up to a brick wall everytime – i have not found a single solution that works yet… everyone seems to be saying things like regedit, faulty hardware. it is neither, and formatting doesn’t really help either.

(in the device manager, when i expand the “network adapters”, it recognises my dongle as network cards, but there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, could somebody help me out. cheers
