Network Administration

The professor did not specify a budget. But the organization already has 35 employees, moving to a new location add on 35 new employees, so that is a total of 70 employees. So I was setting up the network with a Physcial Address, IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default gateway, DHCP Server, DHCP Lease and Lease expire, WINS Server, Packets showing sent and received. Snap-In tools, system tool storage, service and applications. Please inform will this be a good set. My budget needs to be low since this is a small fictious company.(Midterm Project)

Are they Platform Dependant?

How much is in the Budget for retraining and lost production because of the move?

Yes, I do need to have a printer server. This is a small company that has 35 existing employees, moving to the new location 35 new employees. I need to apply the physical address, IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, DHCP Server, DHCPlease and lease expire, DNS Server, WINS server and packets. Snap-ins, system tool, storage, service and applications

Do you NEED a dediacted [edit]

by Dumphrey In reply to Network Administration

print server or just networked printers? Most if not all network-able printers have a built in print server, you just lack a single location for all printers (convenience for set up using shared printers and UNC paths), but then on the plus side, you don't have all your printers on one machine (one machine outage kills all network printing, heavy usage could drastically slow down all queues)...
IIRC this is one of the questions from the Microsoft classes.
If so, price out Vista Business and Server 2008, as most normal teachers want the latest n greatest. Also, at this point XP is available through "downgrading" which costs extra, and eats into the budget. No matter how cheep you want to go, this project will not be inexpensive as you are replacing the entire computing infrastructure.
EDIT: Props for being upfront about this being homework.

first thing he said was "Midterm Project".

At least he was honest about it instead of trying to hide the fact.
