Network and Display Connections is blank

dear friends,
i have problem, i have a windows 2003 standard edition machine which is in LAN but I am unable to find the network icon in the tray or in the start > settings > network and dialup connections.
Because of this I am unable to change the IP address of this machine, help me please.

nic driver

as previously mentioned, look in device manager to see if there's a problem with the nic. you may have to reinstall the driver for the nic.

NIC Driver is avaialble

NIC Driver is available in the Device Manager.
The systems is already in the LAN and also serving some data base to the clients who connect to it.
Now it needs to be given a new IP, I want to change the old IP which can be done through Start > Network and Dial-Up Connections > Local Area Network.
But I do not have LAN in the Network Connections or in the Tray. But when I use IPConfig /all it displays all the details.
