Network Cable Wall Sockets

By Matric ·
Greetings,

Now, we all take them for granted - we just plug our network cable (Cat 5) into the wall socket and we're on the network. Basically I was wondering if anyone knew any online resources that can explain how to install those Wall Sockets.I have chosen a central point for my hub / switch so all I need to know is the guidelines for installing the network points - I already know how to make the network cables.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a place that I found.

Remember there are not spaces in the above url.

This web site shows the different wall plates and the proper wiring method.

This lin has some good general infomration about installing Cat5 cabling (remove spaces as needed:

http://www.peakaudio.com/CobraNet/ Network_cabling.htm

An important point that they don't stress enough is to be mindful of whether you are using strands or solid cable. Solid is usually used in wall runs.

Fortunately, the Cat5 jacks and wall plates are modular, and literally snap together. They have also become commodity items, and are available nearly anywhere. Shoot, my local Lowes has them right on the shelf, though I usually buy mine through Cyberguys (http://www.cyberguys.com). I prefer the angled type of jack; too many times I've replaced patch cords becuase some ya-hoo shoved a desk up against the cord.

The points inside the wall box should be coulor coded to the wires, just puch them in. If they are numbered just use

1 wo
2 o
3 wg
4 b
5 wb
6 g
7 wb
8 b

Wire the wall box to a patch panet using the same scheme and then patch panelto switch and wall point to pc using cables wired to the same scheme
