Network computers appear connected but no internet

by euplectella . Updated 17 years, 2 months ago

I recently finished setting up a wireless router (belkin g+), comcast cable and enabled wpa. There are four machines connected: wireless xbox 360, windows xp laptop and a new imac, and one wired windows xp.

Our connection was working for several hours after I set up the wpa, then suddenly all computers could not connect. I pinged the gateway and it responded, but pining outside (an ip, and www.google.com) timed out. The mac says it’s not connected, but the two windows xp machines (one wired, one not) say they are connected, with stong signal strength, but no websites will load.

I tried plugging the wired machine directly into the modem, no result. I tried resetting the modem with a pen, and disconnected the router, no result. Called comcast, they said service is fine.

I have had recent virus and spyware problems on both windows machines. Both now appear clean.

Very frustrated. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
