We have about 200 + users who all use e-mail / internet. But here is my dilema 50% of the usersuse multiple servers Novell + NT. We are currently using switch hubs and has been working fine, but now we are going to be adding more PC's I am afraid of what might happen. I am looking at getting some new network hardware to prepare for the extra volume. I am looking at a Nortel 350 stackable switch so that I can segment lans & create some V-Lans to lower the traffic. Should I look at getting just 1 Switch? Or should I get more than 1? Any help would be appericated. Thanks for the help JT

That depends on your budget for a switch. You can buy switches with 4 ports up to ..well a lot. Think of how many different segments on your lan you would like and then double or triple that number and get that size of a switch.
The best way to address this is to have a network analysis done. If you do not have a Sniffer to look at traffic on the network, I would certainly look to have a consultant come in to evaluate your traffic. This way you are certain what you need. You indicate your using switch hubs and quite honestly not knowing what that equipment is limits me in this point. Even if you have 250 users on one segment, if they are light users, your traffic is still not going to be that high. One final point, vlans are fine, but if your router has the capablity you might look at just using old fasion subneting. Again the very best thing is to look at the traffic patterns. Make sure if you hire someone, you check refferences, get a scope of work and a clear list of deliverables that fit your needs before bringing them in.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
