    How do you get the network connection icon to show in the system tray for a LAN?

      Start,
      settings,
      Either control panel or Network settings

      In control panel, select networking.

      Right click on the LAN connection,
      select properties.

      Click on the box to show Icon in system tray.

      Apply / Okay
