I have a friend that is subscribing to broadband (cable) internet.
She has her computers connected to an ethernet hub and the cable modem uplinked to it.
She wanted to share a printer from, say “ComputerA”. This should be accessible from “ComputerB”
I had her install File and Sharing for Microsoft Networks on “ComputerA” and File and Sharing for Microsoft Networks and Client for Microsoft Networks on “ComputerB”. She set ComputerA to share the printer.
After ComputerB finished restarting because of the network software installation, it couldn’t access the internet anymore. I her ping ComputerA but she says that she got the message “Network Host Unreachable”. Also, she reports that “winipcfg” shows that she doesn’t have a gateway set (I think this might be why she is cut off).
Also, when changing the port on ComputerB from LPT1 to \\ComputerA\Printer, it reports that it is a bad port
The IP address are assigned by the ISP.
Any ideas on how to get internet back to ComputerB or get the gateway to be assigned?
ComputerA is running Win98 SE
ComputerB is running Win95 Version A
Thank you for any help.
