Network connection trouble

By phil ·
Got a W2k Pro Wkstn joined to a W2k Server-based domain through a Linksys router which provides the
IP addy by way of DHCP. Nothing crazy custom here. Occasionally, such as after a re-start or even just spontanaeously, the connection will just dropout and I can't get to the network resources.,I can browse the internet, but I can't browse my network or see the server.
I can re-install the protocol stack which consists only of the windows networking client,
file & print sharing and TCP/IP andall is well for a while, but it will crap out eventually
and just can't be trusted. So, if the connection to the internet is OK, then the physical layer and the Protocol must be OK, but is it possible for the Client to become corrupted? and of so,how to repair it.

Network connection trouble

by Mike Mullins In reply to Network connection troubl ...

Check the date and time of both the server and the client. W2k Wkstn will use kerberos to authenticate with the server and if the time is off between the two devices, kerberos will fail and you won't be able to access the server.

Good Luck,
