Network drives disconnect

By nl_lilian ·
My system has WinXP pro with SP2 but after logon to the Domain I usually get this error msg whenever I try to open any of my network drives " Microsoft Windows Network: The local drive is already in use. This connections has not been restored."
What causes this and how can I solve this problem besides the logging off and on.

if drives defined from the network are set to /persistent then xp sets them as local drives.
If location on network changes and network script is updated it can't 'change' the local entry.

just right-click and disconnect each of the current drive mappings then log off and back on.
XP will map the drives to the new locations.

Network Drives Keep Disconnecting

by info In reply to Network drives disconnect

My mapped network drives keep disconnecting every 15 minutes on my Windows XP Home machine. I have tried the registry hack to extend the time the mapped network drives are connected but it has not helped. Anybody out there that has any ideas?
