Network drives/printers do not stay connected

by scarlettal . Updated 17 years, 6 months ago

I have a new wired Vista Business SP1 desktop that will not stay connected to the network drives on our small network, that consists of a Win2k Server and a few wired and wireless XP desktops and laptops.

When it first boots up and go to Start –> Network, you can see all drives and printers. But after just a few minutes, they will no longer appear there.

I have mapped a folder on one of the server drives that does stay mapped, though.

My main concern is being unable to print to the network printers.

Also, because of this, if you try to print anything with one of the network printers set as the default, it locks up the program you are attempting to print from. The same thing if you try to go into page setup or print preview.

Any ideas on how to keep everything connected?
