Network Drops Suddenly While Working

By navinwadnere ·
Hi, This is Navin. I am facing a strange problem with Network. We have all branded HP machines. I am facing a problem in particularly 2 models of Hp- dx6102 MT and dx6100 MT. These machines are preloaded with windows xp proffessional. We run a citrix program on these machines. When user is working in citrix he is suddenly thrown out of citrix login and the network status icon in start bar shows, network cable unplugged. Sometimes the machines gets connected automatically sometimes machine hangs. I have updated the machine with latest bios and latest ethernet adaptor driver and all the security patches loaded with sp2.
But when i load windows 2000 prof. in the same machine, this machines works absolutely fine without any problem.
In dx6102, when i leave this machine idle for sometime, the macine is thrown out of network. But as soon as i touch mouse the network is restored but my machine is thrown out of citrix login. VLAN is configured in our network.
Does anybody have any clue or solution to this problem please let me know.

Your machine is probably powering down the NIC when going idle - check your power settings and adjust them. Go into the device manager and select your network card and go into it's properties. The last tab is Power Management - make sure that the box next to 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' is not checked. Hope that helps.
