I have a 9 PC peer to peer network with all units running XP Pro. Some files cannot be accessed across the network and are reported as “open” when they are not. The problem is most common with .wb3 files and sometimes (but not always) happens with .doc, .pdf, or .shw files. The problem does not appear to be folder related. After much research I have found one common trait of all of the files that cannot be network accessed, the “owner” attribute is blank.
I would like to modify the owner field and see if it solves the access problem. If it does I would like to find out why the owner field is being left blank and correct the issue. Any ideas?
