network icons lost, network service lost

Hi there,

I installed mcafee and registry mechanic from pctools and now all my network connection icons have disappeared and I cannot get them back. I’ve tried to recreate a connection but am unsuccessfull in creating any type of connection, I tried to create a dial up conncection to make sure it wasn’t just the network connection. @ one point a msg appreared “cannot access network the service is not started”. So I went to the services and restarted all the network services I’ve run the Winsockxpfix run an avast scan. PLEASE HELP, I DON’T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO?????
