You didn't say if your network adapter was functional. You may want to look and see if you have a resource conflict going on there. The only other reason I can think of is if you are logging on to a domain controller, which cannot change its network ID.

THE NETWORK ADAPTER IS WORKING AND I CAN SEE FROM OTHER NETWORK PC'S , RECEIVE FILES IF SENT FROM OTHER PC'S TO ALL MY DRIVES ONLY I CAN'T CHANGE OR MODIFY THE NETWORK ID OR CHECK OTHER PC'S IN MY NETWORK PLACES IT ALWAYS DISPLAYS UNABLE TO BROWSE NETWORK AND A GRAYED OUT NETWORK ID

If you are in a domain/AD structure can you log on locally to the workstation? If you are stand alone and in a Workgroup, go and look at the rights on the local box of the Administrator. Also, create a new user, place in the Administro group locally, and see it you can change it then.

You may be logged in as Domain Admin. If so, try logging in as local Admin.

CAN YOU EXPLAIN LOGGING ON ON AS LOCAL ADMIN OR DOMAIN ADMIN CAUSE I CREATED NEW USERS AND LOGGED ON AND IT DOESNT LET ME CHANGE THE NETWORK ID ALTHOUGH I WAS ABLE TO CHANGE THE PRINTER ACCESS FROM ANOTHER PC
